<p>The smell of petrol likes to lots of people, there is something that gives its distinctive odour that some of us love. However, don’t spend too much time sniffing petrol since it is  highly toxic. It is composed of benzene, ethylbenzene, xylene, toluene and other hydrocarbons. All those chemicals are hazardous for your health. Intoxicating yourself through the inhalation of petrol can cause severe physical, cognitive, and psychological impairment, particularly due to the role it plays in the selective degeneration of deep white matter and cerebellar structures.</p>

<p>After having done some research I haven’t found any consistent fact. The only thing that can be said is that is a matter of taste. Some people love it, some people hate it. <p>Abarth was founded the 15<sup>th</sup> April of 1949 in Turin (Italy) by Karl Abarth.</p>
<p>In the 1960s, Abarth &amp; C. S.r.l was quite successful in hillclimbing and sports car racing, mainly in classes from 850cc up to 2000cc, competing with Porsche 904 and Ferrari Dino. Hans Herrmann was a factory driver from 1962 until 1965, winning the 500km Nürburgring in 1963 with Teddy Pilette.</p>
<p>Later, Johann Abt was promised by Carlo Abarth that he could drive a factory car for free if he won all the races he entered—which Abt nearly did, winning 29 of 30, the 30th being a second.</p>

<p>Along with its racing cars, Abarth produced high-performance exhaust pipes. Later, Abarth diversified in producing various tuning kits for road vehicles, mainly for Fiat. Abarth was also associated in producing sports or racing cars with Porsche and Simca.</p>
<p>Abarth was sold to Fiat on July 31 1971, and the racing team sold to Enzo Osella. Abarth became the racing department of Fiat, managed by famed engine designer Aurelio Lampredi. Some models built by Fiat or its subsidiaries Lancia and Autobianchi were co-branded Abarth, the most famous being the Autobianchi A112 Abarth. Abarth also prepared Fiat Group&#8217;s rally cars like Fiat 124 Abarth and 131 Abarth. In the 80s Abarth name was mainly used to mark performance Fiats like Fiat Ritmo Abarth 130 TC. The name was almost forgotten in 1990s and in 2000s it was used like a trim/model level on FIAT cars, like the FIAT Stilo Abarth.</p>
<p>In 2007 Fiat Automobiles SpA relaunched the brand with the Grande Punto Abarth and the Grande Punto Abarth S2000. The brand is to be seen as a separate division to the main Fiat brand in a similar way that the Renault Sport brand is to the mainstream Renault. It is based in the Officine 83, part of the old Mirafiori engineering plant.</p>
<p>Nowadays Abarth has its headquarters in Turin. Its parent company is Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A. The president is Luca di Montezemolo and the company CEO is Harald Wester, who is also the CEO of Maserati and Fiat.</p>

<h3>Current production cars:</h3>
<p><strong>500 Abarth</strong>: The 500 Abarth promises to be a ‘small’ car with exceptional performance. It is powered by a 1.4 16v Turbo petrol engine which delivers a maximum of 135 bhp at 5000 rpm and peak torque of 206 Nm at 3000 rpm in ‘Sport’ mode (in ‘Normal’ mode the max torque is 180 Nm at 2500 rpm). CO2 emissions are of 155g/km. It has a top speed of 205 Km/h (127mph) and a 0-100Km/h (0-62mph) of 7.9 seconds. It weights 1035Kg. Fuel Consumption (mpg (l/100km)) is: urban 33.2 (8.5) / extra-urban 43.5 (6.5) / combined 52.3 (5.4). It wears 6.5” x 16” aluminium alloy rims with 195/45 R16 tyres as standard. However, you can have the optional 7.5” x 17” aluminium alloy rims with 205/40 R17 tyres.</p>
<p><strong>Grande Punto Abarth</strong>: It is fitted with a 1.4 turbo petrol engine, delivering 155bhp at 5500rpm with a maximum torque of 206Nm at 5000rpm (When “power boost” mode is activated, the maximum torque increases to 230 Nm at 3000 rpm, and the electric power-assisted steering modifies the setting to give a sportier feel). Combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the engine gives the car a top speed of 208Km/h (129mph), accelerating from 0-100Km/h (0-62mph) in just 8.2 seconds. Fuel Consumption (mpg (l/100km)) is: urban 29.4 (9.6) / extra-urban 53.3 (5.3) / combined 40.9 (6.9). CO2 emissions are of 162g/km. It complies the Euro 4 legislation on noise and emissions. It weights 1185Kg. It wears  7” x 17” aluminium rims with 215/45 R17 tyres. There are the ‘Assetto’ and ‘esseesse’ kits for this car which boost some more power and performance.</p>
